J J Valaya presented the luxury brand ‘JJV’ with eco-conscious Tencel textiles at FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week.

This year as the designer celebrated his 30th year in fashion JJ Valaya launched his all-new bridge-to-luxury brand “JJV”, as an eco-conscious collection made from TENCEL™ LUXE filament yarn, which is derived from renewable wood sources in a closed-loop Lyocell process.

The TENCEL™ LUXE filament yarn will define the landscape of luxury fashion with its silky smoothness, liquid-like drape, colour vibrancy, and yarn strength.

With the world opening its doors for travel, JJ Valaya’s bridge-to-luxury line celebrates occasion wear when on the go! Closing Day 1 with an easy-going, fun, and celebratory collection made from Tencel Luxe, Valaya presented conscious luxury with utmost flair.

Alpona Designs, Shriya Khanna launch latest collections at FDCI X LFW

25 March 2022, Mumbai:

Alpona Designs and Shriya Khanna launched their latest collections featuring contrasting rich florals with sculptural modernity at the joint Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week.

Alpona Designs’ collection & The Eden Garden was rich-colored botanical discordance of clashing print mixed with classic silhouettes of saris, kurtas, lehengas, and dresses.

The collection mixed blossoming flowers and exotic birds with digital prints for an eclectic yet wearable appearance.

Its notable items included a drop-waisted copper-toned dress resembling a bohemian flapper and a saree that mixed houndstooth check with blooming floral prints.

Eponymous designer Shriya Khanna’s collection was inspired by Peter Collingwood's Macrogauze textile pieces.

The collection featured geometric patterns that gave it a modern, almost futuristic feel.

Its color pattern comprising rice blue, navy, white, and coral gave it an Avant-garde concept and translated it into wearable designs.

From March 23 to27 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week is broadcasting physical runway shows on the organizers’ respective websites and social media accounts this season.

Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI: Update On 23-27 March, Edition

24 March 2022, Mumbai:

FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week to be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium keeping in mind safety measures and regulations.

The line-up begins with the Opening Show jointly presented by the FDCI and Lakmé Fashion Week on the 22nd of March and culminates with the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale on the 27th.

Celebrated designers from across the country form part of the schedule.

After two years of digital and phygital showcases due to the pandemic, the powerhouses of fashion and beauty in India- Lakmé Fashion Week (jointly organized by Lakmé & RISE Worldwide) and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) together will be hosting a fully on-ground, season-fluid edition in New Delhi, from 23rd-27th March 2022.

The schedule comprises one of the strongest curations ever of designers from across India.

Cocoblu Retail is going to take over the fashion, apparel, and accessories business of Amazon's largest seller Cloudtail, which is going to shut down in about a month's time.

Amazon will not hold any equity in Cocoblu Retail, the way it has stayed away from another new seller, Dawntech Electronics, which has taken over Cloudtail's electronics business since last November.

FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week: Ananya Modi Jain to present winning NBA collection

24 March 2022, Mumbai:

Last September, the NBA and Lakmé Fashion Week established a partnership to commemorate 'NBA 75,' the league's historic 75th Anniversary Season in 2021-22. Fashion designers from around India were given the opportunity to submit designs for a 'NBA 75' collection as part of the cooperation.

The winning designer, Ananya Modi Jain, will display her collection, titled 'We're All Mad Here,' at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week, which will take place in New Delhi from March 23 to 27.

The designer, who is known for her simple lines and unique style, will honor 'NBA 75' with a sporty, street-smart collection that will put a new spin on classics.

Her brand, which includes unisex all-weather reversible clothes, bralettes, sweatshirts, shorts, joggers, skirts, and hoodies with comical designs, digital prints, and patchwork, aspires to keep faithful to her 'form-and-function' concept.

"Combining my business and all we stand for with the NBA's 75-year tradition has been a tremendously thrilling journey," Ananya Modi Jain said of the cooperation.

Dash & Dot presents F/W collection @ Paris Fashion Week'22

Indian brand Dash and Dot presented their Fall/Winter collection at the Paris Fashion Week 2022.

The collection showcased India’s accessible luxury, inspired by its rich history of textiles and craftsmanship, to the world.

Each garment showcased at the show was made with sustainable materials.

While the coats and jackets were made out of upcycled jute bags with mirror embellishments, the shirts had detailing created with a unique embroidery technique using surplus sewing threads collected from export factories.

Ashray Gujral, Founder says, the brand added value to its showcase through traditions and crafts typically reserved for the Indian couture space.

Gujral founded Dash and Dot in 2020 as a functional and fashion-forward brand, which only uses vegan leather and post-consumer recycled polyester and organic cotton.

The primary aim of the brand is to bring accessible luxury, well-designed, high-quality ready-to-wear products to the Indian customer, adds Gujral. The brand also offers free size-based customization.

Falguni Shane Peacock to launch space-inspired collection at FDCI X LFW

24 March 2022, Mumbai:

Falguni Shane Peacok plans to launch an intergalactic-inspired collection named ‘Earthbound’ at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week.

Bollywood actor Ananya Pandey will be the showstopper at the showcase.

Known for dramatic silhouettes and glamour, Falguni Shane Peacock will mix bright hues with futuristic tailoring this season.

The promotional video released for the collection by the FDCI on Instagram m on March 22 shows skin-tight bodysuits in contrasting colours and gowns will certainly play a key role.

The brand has always been intrigued by space and the collection is based on the concept of a group of people returning to earth after spending 50 years on another planet, says Shane-Peacock.

Imagining Sustainable Fashion Award 2022: Winner Announcement

At the beginning of October 2021, Connecting Cultures and C.L.A.S.S. launched the second edition of the IMAGINING SUSTAINABLE FASHION AWARD for innovative models of communication in a sustainable fashion.

The competition invites stylists, photographers, designers, illustrators, artists and other creatives to rethink how to communicate the new generation of values of an ethical and sustainable fashion system.

An open call and a high-profile international jury to create an aesthetic that defines a new ethic.

They received proposals for traditional media such as editorial projects, fashion events, photography and advertising, and new digital and phygital projects, from social media campaigns to gaming and even immersive and virtual experiences.

Imagining Sustainable Fashion Award 2022: Winner Announcement

14th Fashion Community Week, San Francisco concluded successfully

23 March 2022, Mumbai:

The award-winning Fashion Community Week's recent hybrid event in San Francisco was a triumph. From March 10 to 13, 2022, the 14th season of the 4-day hybrid event featured a virtual runway show and conference, followed by an on-site fashion show and celebratory after party.

The first day (10 March) began with a virtual Fashion Tech Conference, which featured a discussion on the fashion industry's future and sustainability. CEOs from Heuritech (Tony Pinville), WearableX (Billie Whitehouse), Bold Metrics (Daina Burnes), Yoona (Anna Franziska Michel), and Atelier No.9 spoke at the event (Emi Cho).

The evening began with a press briefing on the second day (11 March), followed by a fashion week launch party at The Modernist, a sophisticated members club. Delicious drinks, networking, socializing, and live media interviews with industry participants were all part of the evening's festivities.

The stately Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel hosted a one-of-a-kind fashion display on the third day (12 March). An elaborate runway display featuring seven local and international fashion designers kicked off the evening with a VIP cocktail reception.

Emelie Marcelle (Paris), Lisa Conte (Milan), Dokke (France-Senegal), KTR collection (Korea), Kudsedia (India), Muriel's (Vermont), and Ben Babadi (Vermont) were among the runway designers (Florence-San Francisco).

After the event, all of the collections were available to purchase straight off the runway! A virtual fashion show with worldwide fashion labels premiered on the last day (March 13).

It was a strolling fashion show with models displaying the season's most spectacular designs.

During each season's fashion week, the organization raises money for a good cause. In conjunction with the non-profit PWIC Global Impact and designer 'Ukrainian Bravery,' the cause this season was to benefit Ukrainian Mothers and Children. According to the Fashion Community Week team, all earnings will go towards humanitarian relief.
