ABFRL partners Galeries Lafayette for a luxury store in New Delhi

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) plans to open a new luxury store in New Delhi in partnership with upscale French department store chain, Galeries Lafayette.
The move is a major play by the Aditya Birla Group's retail and fashion arm, which competes with rivals like billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Retail. ABFRL already holds exclusive agreements to bring several other premium international brands, including Ralph Lauren, Hackett London, Ted Baker, and Fred Perry, to India.
The new Galeries Lafayette store will feature over 250 global luxury and designer brands, thus expanding Aditya Birla Group's extensive portfolio as it aggressively invests in India’s rapidly expanding high-end market.
R. Satyajit, CEO - International Brands, ABFRL, emphasizes, the company aims to at least be in four of the top Indian six cities in the next three years. It plans to open large-format stores in the Indian context besides launching a dedicated online platform for Galeries Lafayette within the country.
