The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bhubaneswar has been given an extra two acres of land
11 January 2022, Mumbai:
Odisha, one of India's most populous states, has authorised the free long-term allocation of two acres of additional land close to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Bhubaneswar. The State Cabinet granted its consent during a virtual meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
"The State Government has taken a really excellent move. Prof. Binaya Bhusan Jena, NIFT Bhubaneswar, said, "The two acres of extra property will allow us to establish new programmes, including the projected Centre for Sustainable Fashion, as well as meet our other requirements, such as an auditorium and administrative facility."
It is crucial to note that NIFT, Bhubaneswar, began as a temporary campus at Jatni, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, in 2010 and has since moved to its permanent site near KIIT University. On March 31, 2012, it was formally opened.
The current campus covers ten acres of land. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (ABFRL) and Page Industries are two of the most well-known garment companies in Odisha (Jockey). Proposals for the departments of handloom, textiles, and handicrafts were also accepted by the Cabinet.
The State Cabinet also agreed to provide the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar 618.665 acres of government land for free.
