India’s largest hypermarket chain Big Bazaar plans to open 16 more stores across the country to take its total store count to 300. The Future Retail-owned retail chain will expand into Tier-II cities in India. It currently operates 284 stores in over 100 cities.
Future Group-owned Future Retail is still on the path to recovery. It has not fully recovered to its normal state as there are some behavior changes on part of consumers also. Chains such as Big Bazaar have adopted digital modes, using shopping apps, WhatsApp, and even phones to get orders and get them delivered to the doorsteps.
The company has also adopted concepts as 'pick up at stores'. Last week, it opened its seventh store in Lucknow.
The hypermarket chain operates multiple stores in several Tier-II cities. It operates six stores in Bhubaneswar, five in Patna, four in Nagpur and Jaipur, and three stores each in cities such as Baroda, and Ranchi Nasik.
