30 January 2025, Mumbai
Indian handloom clothing brand, Dressfolk has raised a new funding round led by Eternal Capital, with participation from D2C entrepreneurs Ghazal Alagh, Mamaearth and Dhruv Koli, Boba Bhai, along with Nobody Ventures, Eagle Wings Ventures, 3 Peaks Ventures, and existing investors.
According to Nitin Mehrotra, Founder, the funding will enable the brand to expand its portfolio beyond sarees to contemporary Indian wear, catering to growing demand.
Focusing on preserving and promoting India's artisanal heritage through stylish and comfortable handloom clothing, Dressfolk targets customers over 25 years of age who value natural and hand wove fabrics. The brand has scaled its distribution through its own website, e-commerce platforms like Aza Fashions, Nykaa ad Myntra, and regular pop-up events across India.
Having registered a 200 per cent growth in FY24, Dressfolk is supported by a network of over 800 weavers and 120 artisans across six Indian states. The brand plans to launch an international website to take Indian handlooms to the global market.
With 71 per cent share, the ethnic wear segment dominates women's fashion market in India, despite competition from global brands.
