The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) celebrated India’s rich handloom and crafts heritage with a special showcase titled, ‘My Craft My Pride’ at the World Crafts Forum 2024 in New Delhi.

Highlighting sustainable fashion, the event featured collections from acclaimed designers, including Anjana Bhargav for DHI, Payal Jain, Suket Dhir, Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta, Anavila Misra, and Aidar Khan from Kazakhstan.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman, FDCI, says, both the World Crafts Forum 2024 and DC Handicraft, Ministry of Textiles serve as a platform to highlight India’s sustainable crafts. The event is a testament to India’s enduring craftsmanship, as interpreted by some of the nation’s leading designers, notes Sethi. Reflecting FDCI’s commitment, the showcase helps preserve India’s traditional techniques while advocating for a sustainable future in fashion.

Going beyond fashion presentations, the event offered craft dialogues and case studies that examined the intersection of traditional crafts and circularity in the fashion industry. These discussions shed light on sustainable practices and the potential of crafts to contribute to a more environmentally friendly future for the fashion world.
