Textile Ministry to rollout IndiaSize program soon

The Ministry of Textiles (MoT)’ IndiaSize program has reached its final stages and is expected to be rolled out across the country soon.
Futuristic; Aiming to better serve Indian shoppers by standardising clothing sizes in the country, the India Size program included extensive research into Indian body types.
The project will help organise the textile sector in India, besides enabling designers to create garments specific to Indian body types.
Opportunities galore
The program will also boost shoppers’ online shopping behavior and encourage them to consult a size chart before shopping for new garments.
Promotion of domestic apparel production for Indian body types through the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative will further encourage shoppers to buy from desi brands, in turn creating new employment opportunities in the country.
Rachana Shah, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, opines, the rollout of IndiaSize will help the Indian industry meet the needs of its own population The Textiles Ministry will soon also launch a ‘Centre of Sustainable Fashion Technology’ to initiate research into creating more sustainable fashion.
