The Khadi India Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair garnered a huge response. The pavilion showcased premium khadi garments and village industry products produced by khadi artisans in rural surroundings.
Muslin khadi from West Bengal, Pashminas from Jammu and Kashmir, Patola silks from Gujarat, Banarasi silks, Bhagalpuri silks, Phulkari from Punjab, Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh, and many other types of cotton, silk, and woollen products were showcased in the fair and purchased by visitors in large amounts.
Supply orders for various products were received by the entrepreneurs. There was a huge participation of more than 200 stalls by khadi artisans and entrepreneurs and representatives of small-scale industries with artisan art, cultural diversity, and traditional crafts of the country. There was a live demonstration of the charkha spinning activity, cotton to yarn making, pottery making, agarbatti making, and other activities.
Artisans and participants were given certificates and thanked for their participation in the trade fair.
India International Trade Fair was held in New Delhi, from November 14 to 27, 2022.
This was the first trade fair organized since the Covid outbreak. High priority was given to women artisans giving 36 percent of the total stalls to women, which was confined to just 20 percent of women’s participation in 2019.
