H&M India’s growth, sustainability, and style take center stage at GIRS 2025

25 February 2025, Mumbai
At the Great India Retail Summit (GIRS) 2025 in Mumbai, Helena Kuylenstierna, director of H&M India, explored fashion’s role in shaping modern retail and aspiration.
Marking its 10th year in India, H&M has expanded to 65 stores, with its 66th opening soon in Gangtok. The brand’s digital-first strategy launching a website eight years ago and partnering with Myntra strengthened its omnichannel presence. H&M Home, introduced three years ago, further diversified its offerings.
Kuylenstierna highlighted H&M’s balance of affordability and trendsetting, crediting its 400 in-house designers and global sourcing teams. Sustainability remains key, with 85 per cent of its materials already recycled or sustainably sourced, surpassing 100 per cent in select categories like H&M Baby. The brand targets full sustainability by 2030.
H&M’s Indian touch from Diwali collections to designer collaborations deepens local engagement. By sponsoring cultural events like Lollapalooza India 2025, it fosters youth self-expression through fashion.
The discussion at GIRS 2025 underscored H&M’s influence in India’s evolving retail landscape, blending innovation with sustainability and style.
