Puma India partners with badminton star PV Sindhu to strengthen performance wear portfolio

Expanding its sports portfolio, Puma India has partnered with Indian badminton star and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu. Marking the brand’s official entry into the sport of badminton, this multi-year collaboration positions Puma to tap into the growing performance wear market.

Debuting at the India Open 2025 in New Delhi, this partnership will highlight Puma’s commitment to support the badminton’s growth in India. It will help double the brand’s growth in the country while strengthening its position in the performance wear segment, says Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director, Puma India.

As per the 2024 Google-Deloitte Think Sports report, accounting for 27.8 million fans, Badminton is witnessing a rise in popularity, and is the second-most played sports in urban India after cricket particularly among Gen Z. Over the past four years, the sport has witnessed a 65 per cent increase in popularity.

Puma India also plans to launch a customized collection for badminton enthusiasts later this year. The brand will capitalize on the $399.5 million opportunity offered by the sports apparel market and the $304.6 million opportunity presented by the badminton equipment market in India.

Puma’s broader focus on participative sports in India, including running, athletics, and now badminton, reflects its vision of fostering a dynamic and inclusive sports culture. This collaboration emphasizes on the brand’s Puma's dedication to inspire future generations and shape an enduring sporting ecosystem.

Sindhu joins Puma’s list of other prominent athletes and icons, including cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur and Mohammed Shami, Olympian Sarabjot Singh, Paralympian Avani Lekhara, and global legends like Usain Bolt and Neymar Jr.
