Hermès has unveiled its newest boutique on the first floor of the Jio World Plaza in Mumbai. Conceived by the esteemed Paris-based architecture firm RDAI, this new boutique pays a tribute India’s rich cultural tapestry. The walls within the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear sections of the boutique are adorned with hand-embroidered fabrics by local artisans, evoking the ambiance of bustling city streets bathed in sunlight.

Boasting an open-plan design, the salon showcases offerings from Hermès’ sixteen metiers, including sumptuous silks, exquisite fashion jewelry, home decor, and fragrance lines. In focus are the timeless watches and luxurious leather goods that pay homage to the brand’s legacy as a premier saddle maker for Europe’s elite in the 19th century. The store juxtaposes earthy stucco walls against azure mosaic accents reminiscent of Jodhpur’s famed blue houses. Its bamboo veneer marquetry walls evoke the architectural charm of the city, enclosing the jewelry display with a nod to tradition. Featuring prints from Émile Hermès’ collection alongside works by esteemed artists such as Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert and French painter Christian Babou, the store’s decor blends heritage with contemporary elements.

Esteemed Indian production designer and filmmaker Aradhana Sheth has created a captivating window installation titled 'Faubourg in an Enchanted Forest,' at the store. Inspired by the lively Gond art of Madhya Pradesh, the installation is intertwined with the narratives and designs emblematic of Hermès. Previously endowed by notable collaborators such as architect Rooshad Shroff, the brand’s Mumbai windows are now echoed in the metal facade adorned with hues reminiscent of Indian craftsmanship.

Launched by Reliance Retail, the boutique underscores a broader trend of luxury brands fortifying their presence in the subcontinent, reflecting the enduring allure of India’s rich cultural heritage.
