French fashion retailer Kiabi has expressed its intentions to enter the Indian market and is currently scouting for locations to set up its stores in major metro cities.
Kiabi had initially planned to enter the Indian market before the pandemic struck, but the process was put on hold due to the global health crisis. The retailer is considering opening large format stores to showcase its entire product range.
The Indian market presents a significant growth opportunity for apparel retailers, particularly with the rising middle class and increased demand for branded fashion. The growing popularity of western wear across the country makes it an attractive destination for international clothing brands.
Kiabi currently operates in around 15 countries and is owned by the Association Familiale Mulliez, which also runs several other retail brands such as sportswear business Decathlon and supermarket chain Auchan.
