Leading malls offer additional storage space as fulfilment centres
07 March 2023, Mumbai
The malls are doubling up as fulfilment centres, allowing additional storage space to brands and retailers to store their products at a common warehouse within the mall and use the space for delivery through e-commerce platforms.
This arrangement provides brands with more space to showcase their products effectively, and it helps retailers improve their omni-channel backend, especially as more consumers shift towards online buying.
The trend could be an opportunity for retailers to reduce costs and improve margins. However, retailers also face higher rental costs as they increase their store sizes to keep more stock across categories and offer a better shopping experience.
Mall warehousing systems would play a positive role in reducing the costs of storage as well as fulfilment timelines, and it could reduce overheads, increase margins, and improve overall turnaround time.
