Craft driven womens wear brand Boito plans to hold a pop-up in Parra, Goa from December 15-January 5, 2025 to celebrate Odisha’s weaves and artisans.
The brand recently also held a fashion show at Bikaner House in New Delhi to bring Odisha’s textile culture to the metro’s shoppers. Featuring a range of textile driven womens wear along with installations, the fashion show will showcase the garments’ production process along with the photos of artisans creating them.
Launched two years ago, Boito has previously held pop-up shows in Bhubaneswar and Mumbai. The label retails from its direct-to-customer e-commerce store. It often faces less than desirable working conditions, particularly amongst communities like Gadabas and Habaspuri weavers who operate their looms in the open.
Meanwhile, the pit looms of Kotpad’s Mirgan community are set up in their largest room in their homes. However, these rooms are often poorly lit and lack proper ventilation. In addition, power cuts are rampant, says Richa Maheshwari, Founder, Boito.
