The garment industry in Indore is optimistic about a prosperous festive season ahead, thanks to inquiries and advance orders from players outside the city.
Indicating potential business growth
Anticipating a surge in festival-related business, the industry is targeting a growth of over 10 percent, starting from Rakshabandhan, particularly driven by inquiries primarily from southern states.
Industry players have begun purchasing clothes, although a significant increase in purchases is expected from mid-August onwards.
Festive rush
Rajpal Agrawal, a readymade garment manufacturer from Indore, expressed, "With the approaching season, we have initiated preparations, including responding to inquiries, analyzing trends, and procuring fabrics.
Positive outlook
We have high hopes for a successful season this time, given the increased interest from buyers." Indore serves as a major hub for clothing and readymade supplies across the country. Kailash Mungad, Secretary of the Maharaja Tukojirao Cloth Market Merchants Association, stated, "While the past months have been challenging for our sector, we are now optimistic about improved sales.
Drive optimism; Full-fledged purchases are expected to commence in August, but we are already receiving inquiries from players outside the city." According to the association, the estimated annual clothing sales in Indore reach approximately Rs 800-1,000 crore.
Distribution drives sales to ‘Multiple States’
The garment and clothing industry in Indore caters to the fabric and readymade demands of various states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
