Focus on durable, user-friendly products, urges PM at 51st IHGF Delhi Fair
At the 51st edition of the IHGF Delhi Fair from May 19-23, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indian handicrafts sector to expand their portfolio of durable and user-friendly products. Digital technologies have helped the sector remain resilient during the current pandemic times, he added.
The fair was inaugurated the fair by Ravi K. Passi, Chairman, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and welcomed over 700 exhibitors of home, lifestyle fashion, furniture and textile products. He informed that a large number of overseas buyers, wholesalers and retailers have already registered to visit the show. UP Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, appreciated EPCH for holding the several virtual editions of IHGF during the current pandemic since June’2020. The virtual fair will give a much needed push to handicrafts exports besides generating additional employment in this cottage sector, he said.
The fair hosted webinars on topics such as ‘Quick Ways to Optimize Forex Operations in Turbulent Times’ and ‘Seven easy ways to Grow your Exports’ to enable participants to keep themselves abreast with the international trade requirements. It also featured craft demonstrations by artisans on blue pottery, Warli painting, screw pine craft, Kani shawls, Meenakari, artistic.
