Indian designer shines at Moscow Fashion Week, boosting cross-border fashion ties

Moscow Fashion Week, held from October 4 to 9, brought together over 80 designers from around the world, including countries like Russia, India, China, UAE, Indonesia and South Africa. Among the standout moments was the participation of Nitin Bal Chauhan, a New Delhi-based designer presented by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). His collection attracted significant attention, marking India's growing presence in the Russian fashion market.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, emphasized India’s potential in Russia, pointing to Russian consumers' increasing demand for unique, handcrafted fashion. Sethi remarked that Indian designers, through events like the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, could tap into this market with collections that blend India’s rich heritage with modern aesthetics. Nitin Bal Chauhan’s impactful return to Moscow

Nitin Bal Chauhan, returning to Moscow Fashion Week after his debut in March, showcased a bold collection that embodied futurism and avant-garde styles. His work featured intricate folds, pressed fabrics, and vibrant colors like pale yellow, coral, and electric blue. The striking makeup on the models, with bold red lips and blue paint flowing from their eyes, enhanced the edgy yet elegant feel of his designs.

This participation highlighted the growing collaboration between Moscow Fashion Week and FDCI, suggesting that Indian designers could become a staple in future editions of the event.

BRICS+ Fashion Summit: A new fashion powerhouse

Simultaneously, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow brought together delegates from over 100 countries. The signing of a memorandum to establish the BRICS International Fashion Federation marked a major milestone, aimed at fostering international collaboration and sustainable fashion.

Moscow's role as a fashion hub was solidified, showcasing both emerging and established talent while promoting global connections in the industry.
