At a Samvad interaction held at the Khadi and Village Industries Commission’s (KVIC) head office in Mumbai, Manoj Kumar, Chairman, said, the commission has prepared a complete roadmap to take Khadi from a local level to the global in collaboration with the government of India.

The commission is implementing various schemes for the skill development of the artisans to ensure they succeed success in field of village industry and employment.

The organisationalso aims to launch the ‘SilaiSamriddhiYojana’ initiative for women to boost women’s employment in the sector. It has launched numerous programs to contribute to the economic development of India’s both rural and urban areas.

To achieve Prime Minister NarenderModi’s goal of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047, KVIC plans to expand the 'Khadi Gram SwarajAbhiyan' to each Indian village, reiterates Kumar.

According to KVIC, sales of khadi products have increased four-fold leading to an improving in the financial conditions of rural artisans. Over the last 10 years, artisans wages have increased by 233 per cent, making the sector an attractive career choice, reports the organisation.
