With 14 peer trainers, the initiative will cover 15 factories with a minimum of 100 employees each.
Narender Goenka, Chairman, AEPC and ATDC; Premal Udani, Chairman, AMHSSC; Dr. Roopak Vasishtha, CEO, AMHSSC; Nidhi Dua, Regional Head India & Sri Lanka – India Sourcing Perspective, M&S; Fiona Sadler, Global Head of Responsible Sourcing – M&S Plan A (Global Perspective); and Ranjeeb Sarma, Head of Compliance and CSR, M&S
The project, according to a news release, aims to maximize advantages to the clothing and textile sector by voluntarily adopting a program for a safe work environment for women by leveraging a congenial, sustainable environment at the top, supervisory, and worker levels.
Workers, supervisors, and managers, including middle and senior management, will get training in order to enable a safe work environment for women and disrupt the culture of silence, which is the project's foundation. The initiative will concentrate on raising awareness about gender equality, empowering male and female workers, enacting legislation to prevent, ban, and remedy gender-based harassment, and developing policies and mechanisms. This approach will have an influence on workers in the next years, resulting in a beneficial shift in the workplace culture that appreciates women's labor and dignity.
