US-based sports footwear and apparel manufacturer, New Balance has launched its first retail store in Bengaluru.
Spanning two floors, the store features a curated selection of performance and lifestyle products, highlighting proprietary technologies like Fresh Foam X and FuelCell. Founded in 1906 by William J. Riley as the New Balance Arch Support Company, New Balance initially specialised in manufacturing arch supports and accessories to improve shoe fit.
The brand first entered the Indian market in the early 2000s but exited shortly afterward. It re-entered India in 2016 through a distribution agreement with Mumbai-based The Major Brands Group, opening its first store at DLF Mall of India in Noida. New Balance established its India subsidiary in 2022.
In February 2024, New Balance opened its first company-owned store in India in Hyderabad, followed by additional stores in Pune and Mumbai. The company reported global sales of $6.5 billion for 2023.
