W for Women unveils Spring-Summer’25 collection at New York Fashion Week

08 February 2025, Mumbai

Marking a first for an Indian ethnic wear brand at the event’s ‘Made in India’ segment, W for Woman unveiled its Spring-Summer ’25 collection at the New York Fashion Week. The collection focused on three distinct themes- young fashion, wedding drama, and truly Indian.

Anant Daga, CEO – TCNS Division, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, states, the new collection redefines perceptions of Indian ethnic wear, creating timeless elegance by fusing traditional elements with contemporary aesthetics. The three distinct segments of the collection each celebrated a unique facet of Indian ethnic fashion.

The ‘Truly Indian’ capsule was inspired by India's rich heritage. Flowing silhouettes crafted from delicate handwoven fabrics evoked a sense of poetry in motion. Intricate embroidery added texture and depth, while modern cuts, seen in suit-inspired dresses and kurta sets, gave a fresh twist to traditional styles. Draped lehenga skirts offered a sense of effortless regality. The color palette for the collection featured rich maroon, sapphire, and deep green, brought to life with shimmering gold and silver threadwork, highlighting India's rich craftsmanship.

The ‘Runway Chic’ segment showcased fusion fashion with an avant-garde mix of bold prints and asymmetric hemlines. Dresses transformed into kurtas, and dupattas became scarves, each piece telling its own story. Electric blues, fuchsias, and butter yellows mingled with neutral tones, capturing the energy and confidence of the modern Indian woman.

"The Wedding Drama" capsule celebrated the grandeur of Indian weddings, showcasing the lavish elements of Indian wedding wear. Luxurious silks, velvets, and organza were adorned with intricate hand embroidery, sequins, and delicate embellishments. Voluminous skirts flowed gracefully, while dramatic capes and statement dupattas commanded attention. Soft pastels, regal purples, and shimmering gold created an ethereal palette. Modern necklines and sleek cuts added a contemporary touch, allowing tradition to evolve into something new and breathtaking.

This milestone moment for W at New York Fashion Week marked a significant step in bringing Indian ethnic wear to a global audience. With its seamless blend of tradition and modernity, W continues to push boundaries, reaffirming its position in contemporary ethnic fashion.
