Amazon India to digitise 10 million small businesses by 2025

E-commerce giant Amazon India’s plans to digitise 10 million small businesses in the country besides creating 2 million jobs by 2025.

The online retailer onboarded around three lakh new sellers in 2023, taking its seller base to a total of over 14 lakh.

Nuanced picture

The retailer received an overwhelming response to its Prime Day sale in core business categories like everyday essentials, consumer electronics, fashion and beauty, grocery, home, and kitchen products, as well as the momentum in its Prime program and Amazon Pay, says Manish Tiwary, Country Manager, Amazon India. 

Designed to promote its paid ‘Prime’ service, the ‘Prime Day’ sale witnessed a 14 percent increase in Prime members who shopped online for deals in 2023. The sale resulted in a saving of Rs 300 crore for shoppers on products ranging from fashion to home goods.
