16 December 2021, Mumbai:
Odisha may acquire two new garment manufacturers in the coming months, according to proposals authorized by the state government.
Ambattur Fashions, located in Chennai, is planning to spend Rs 51 crore in a garment manufacturing business in Chandaka, Khorda district. Men's and women's clothing will be produced in the factory.
Wild Lotus Fashions' plant at the Chhatabar Industrial Estate, District Khorda, has been cleared by the committee for an investment of Rs. 52.62 crore.
Over 560 people are projected to be employed as a result of this factory. Wild Lotus Fashions already has a location in Khurda's Chhatabar neighborhood. In a meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority, these and a few additional projects from diverse sectors were approved (SLSWCA).
The meeting was headed by Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra. The State Government has concentrated its efforts on high-wage industries such as clothing manufacturing, which employs a large number of people in a single location.
It will also assist the state in securing jobs for the state's residents. Thousands of Odia residents are currently employed by textile manufacturers in other states.
More than 15 Indian textile and apparel firms expressed interest in investing over Rs. 550 crore in Odisha in 2018, resulting in the creation of roughly 18,000 employment. But nothing has happened thus far since the state has relatively few factories that are capable of producing large-scale, organized garments.
