Designer Payal Jain showcased her new women’s wear collection ‘Holy Script’ digitally on the first day of the Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week. Inspired by Buddhist Thanka paintings and delicate femininity, the collection explores traditional jacquard techniques like Kadua and Katrauan woven in silk yarn. Its vibrant color palette of reds, yellows, greens, and blues is inspired by traditional Buddhist Thanka paintings
The romantic yet wearable silhouettes feature wrap-style necklines, sheer puff sleeves, ruffles, and maxi-lengths. Though inspired by resort wear, the collection has been designed for the festive season and features high-neck dresses gowns. Models showcasing the collection at LMIFW wore large tikas across their brows and natural makeup by fashion week sponsor Lotus Makeup. Some of them wore several thin braids in their hair, adorned with raw threads and cowrie shells to create a free-spirited and ethereal aesthetic.
Having launched her eponymous brand in 1993, Jain retails from her dedicated e-commerce store. The designer is known for her use of drapes and mixing fashion with art.
