Lulu Group plans to set up India’s biggest mall. This will be in Ahmadabad, Gujarat. The construction of the Rs 3000-crore shopping mall, which would have all modern facilities, will start early next year. The shopping mall will have over 300 national and international brands, a 3,000-people capacity food court with multi-cuisine restaurants, a 15-screen multiplex cinemas with Imax, India’s biggest children's amusement center and many other attractions.
This would be Lulu’s third shopping mall in the country, after Kerala and Lucknow Uttar Pradesh, and will provide direct employment to 6,000 people and indirect employment to over 12,000 in the state. Lulu hypermarket, the retail division, will be the anchor store. Lulu hypermarket was founded in 2000 and now has operations in 22 countries across the Middle East, Asia, the US, and Europe.
The UAE-based Lulu, known for its sprawling business interests worldwide, is now expanding in India, after having a prominent presence in the southern parts of the country for the past many years. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, the group mainly operates in 23 countries located across the Middle East, Asia, the US, and Europe. It has an annual turnover of eight billion dollars and a staff force of more than 60,000.
