52% Indians hopeful of sales returning to pre-COVID levels in six months: Survey

A CBRE Asia Pacific Research survey covering 205 retail clients underlined that 52 per cent of the respondents from India are hopeful of sales returning to the pre-pandemic levels in more than 6 months.

The global survey, held between 21 September and 20 October, mentioned in its report that fewer than half of respondents said that retail sales have recovered to 75 per cent of the pre-pandemic times.

The survey was aimed at gauging how the retail industry is responding to COVID-19 as well as how it is recovering from the losses caused by the pandemic. Stores have largely reopened, but two-thirds of respondents believe it will take 6 months or more to see a full recovery of sales, the report underscored.

Another highlight of the survey that grabbed attention turned out to be some major areas of concerns for retailers. As many as 72 per cent respondents feared a second wave of infections. As far as other key concerns are concerned, these include loss of sales, slow pace of sales recovery and supply chain disruption.
