The State Government's intention to offer the name of Jodhpur to the Union Government for the textile park under the PM MITRA (Mega integrated Textile Region and Apparel) program has enraged Rajasthan's major textile metropolis.
Local textile businesses have submitted letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and others, claiming that Bhilwara, as a textile powerhouse, is the best candidate for the mega-park.

According to Rajasthan Janmanch's Kailash Soni, Bhilwara is a well-known brand in Rajasthan's textile sector, but Jodhpur is recognized for handcraft, so there is no reason to reject Bhilwara and suggest Jodhpur's name.

Many leading textile enterprises are based in Bhilwara, which has over 1 million spindles and over 16,000 power looms that produce daily fabric worth Rs. 100 crore.
