Manish Malhotra presents a traditional wear collection at 'India Couture Week'
24th August 2021, Mumbai:
Manish Malhotra presented his latest traditional wear collection ‘Nooraniyat’ with Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon as his showstopper at the second digital edition of India Couture Week.
Malhotra’s fashion film showed his signature opulent, heavy traditional wear worn for modern weddings. The designer’s fashion film was broadcast on the Fashion Design Council of India’s social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram on August 23.
A playful delivery and star-studded cast gave Malhotra’s collection a modern feel, showing that the Gen Z bride can still look contemporary in heavily embellished, red ensembles. Filmed at the Leela Hotel in New Delhi, the presentation also featured veteran model Noyonika Chatterjee as a bride getting a second chance at happiness and influencer and plus size advocate Sakshi Sindwani. Showstopper Kriti Sanon wore a red lehenga with gold and silver embellishments complete with an elaborate maang tika and bangled stacked high.
The collection’s classic colour scheme of reds and golds had a regal air and heavyweight textiles were contrasted with floaty chiffon dupattas. Bridal looks were accessorised with jewellery by Archana Aggarwal, India Couture Week’s official jewellery partner this season.
India Couture Week will run until August 29 and feature 18 other designers. Organised by the FDCI and held in partnership with the Hindustan Times, the fashion week will present a range of traditional and bridal wear for the upcoming festive season.
