Piyush Goyal, Union Textile Minister, examined the National Institute of Fashion Technology's important consultancy and development initiatives (NIFT).
He urged NIFT to speed up the completion of each project so that the intended benefits may be delivered to the public and industry as soon as possible.
NIFT also has to come up with efforts to create hybrid online courses, short-term and skill development courses to increase its reach, according to the review conference.
National Sizing Survey of India, VisionXT – Trend Insight and Forecasting Lab, NIFT Design Incubators, Pratibha – A digital platform for Rural Businesses, USTAAD, Centre of Excellence for Khadi, Craft Cluster Initiative, and The Respositories – Textiles and Craft (RTC) Project are among the important projects currently being undertaken by NIFT.
The meeting was also attended by Upendra Prasad Singh, the Secretary of the Ministry of Transport. National Sizing Survey of India and VisionXT– Trend Insight and Forecasting Lab are two projects that might enhance our garment exports significantly.
The Minister requested that NIFT investigate new opportunities that have arisen in the post-COVID era.
The Minister praised the craft cluster concept, which involves students working on projects with craftsmen at the grassroots level, and suggested that each NIFT student adopt an artisan, which would help diversify goods and improve the quality and processes of artisans.

He did, however, request that NIFT speed up the pace of each project so that the intended consequences may be delivered to the public and industry as quickly as possible. The Minister also requested that the idea of combining some of the projects with other comparable initiatives be investigated.
Shantmanu, the Director-General of NIFT, presented an overview and stated that in addition to providing world-class fashion education, NIFT also does numerous consulting initiatives. He presented a talk about eight of these initiatives.
