The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is projecting a record-breaking festive season sale of Rs 4.75 lakh crore across India with sales in Delhi alone expected to cross Rs 75,000 crore.
CAIT attributes this massive projected growth, particularly during the Diwali season, to several key factors including a strong 'Vocal for Local' Sentiment.
As per CAIT, Consumers in India are increasingly opting for Indian-made, Swadeshi products over foreign imports, especially Chinese goods. One a major presence during Diwali, Chinese goods are now almost missing from the market, the organization notes.
Recent GST rate reductions are also boosting buying sentiment among consumers. The extended festive season, starting with Navratri and extending upto the Tulsi Vivah also provides an extended period for trade.
As per a CAIT survey conducted across 35 major cities, Indian products are dominating shopping categories, including decorative items, home goods, garments, electronics, and FMCG products. This momentum is seen as a ‘celebration of India's economic strength,’ supporting local artisans and manufacturers.
This record forecast reflects a strong economic revival and heightened consumer optimism in the Delhi market.
