DOORS OPEN TO SPRING FAIR ON SUNDAY WITH THE RE-LAUNCH OF POWER OF ONE AND AN IMPRESSIVE FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE BRANDS

05 February 2022, Mumbai:

The doors to Spring Fair, the UK’s largest and longest running wholesale marketplace encompassing the best in home, gift and fashion, open this Sunday 6th until Wednesday 9th February welcoming thousands of buyers and showcasing tens of thousands of new products and innovations.

Its organisers, Hyve Group plc, has announced the re-launch of the Power of One campaign and a renewed focus on sustainability with an impressive number of sustainable and ethical brands showing.

Building on the shows Empowering Change manifesto, visitors will also discover a host of inspiring and educational interactive activations onsite.

How Sustainable Brands Boost the Productivity of Employees

Successfully launched in 2018 by Hyve Group’s fashion trade show Pure London to galvanise the fashion industry into taking collective action, the Power of One initiative is being adopted across all of Hyve Group’s B2B events in the form of three powerful pledges created to help energise retailers to take small steps to change the world, their mental health, and their environment.

Suzanne Ellingham, Head of Content, Hyve Group plc says; “Power of One is all about small changes leading to big differences. We hope we can use our influence across key retail sectors in a positive way to help effect change in the industry.

We have created three simple but impactful pledges to encourage the circular economy, combat overproduction, and prioritise wellness. Conscious decisions are the future of retail and Power of One is here to help shape that future, one decision at a time.”

  • Pass It On puts the circular economy under the microscope and encourages consumers to give their best-loved items a second lease of life, thus reducing the impact on finite resources and encouraging customers to seek sustainable alternatives.
  • Do You Need It combats overproduction at the source and really showcases the power that small steps have to make a huge change.

Visitors to Spring Fair will be introduced to the Power of One pledge on activation walls which also enable donations to Spring Fair’s wellbeing and charity partner the Retail Trust in support of the Checking In pledge.

There will be bins at all entrances for visitors to recycle their show badge.

The bins are set up as a voting system so visitors can choose where to post their badge and it will vote for the pledge they want. Pre-registered visitors have been asked to bring their own reusable water bottles and use the water stations positioned around the show

The Sustainability Trail returns for 2022 and highlights the many brilliant brands and suppliers striving to do their part to ensure a more sustainable and ethical future for all.

From sourcing materials and manufacturing to the final product and packaging, brands and suppliers are shifting their focus and the Sustainability Trails enables them to celebrate and highlight this with hundreds of brands taking part.

ITALIAN TEXTILE MACHINERY: ORDERS GROW AGAIN IN 2021 FOURTH QUARTER

04 February 2022, Mumbai:

The index of orders intake for Italian textile machinery for the fourth quarter of 2021, processed by ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, showed a 43% upturn compared to the same period in 2020.

In absolute terms, the index stood at 127.9 points (base 100 in 2015). This growth was spurred on by both the Italian and foreign markets.

More specifically, domestic orders were up 83% compared to the period October-December 2020, for an absolute value of 234.6. Orders collected abroad grew by 36%, for an absolute index value equal to 116.4.

On an annual basis, the index of orders intake increased by 95%, for an absolute value of 128 points. The increase in orders abroad was 79%, while orders collected for domestic market were up 204% compared to what was observed in 2020.

Alessandro Zucchi, president of ACIMIT, commented the results of the survey: "We’re experiencing a recovery in the sector that we didn’t quite expect.

Production has returned to pre-Covid levels, while foreign demand has been robust in most markets, and in Italy it has benefited from the Government Transition 4.0 incentives."

However, the many orders to be filled are now a cause for concern, given the scarce availability of components and raw materials due to the interruption of supply chains. Added to this is the sharp rise in the cost of energy.

KARL MAYER's SwapKnit: 1st Smart Machine function

01 February 2022, Mumbai:

Patterning from the cloud SwapKnit – KARL MAYER's first Smart Machine function revolutionizes the way of guide bar control.

A view of machine data from anywhere and at any time, service support as if on site but from far away, patterning from the cloud: digitalization offers completely new possibilities in warp knitting, which KARL MAYER is using to offer its customers a wide range of advantages for their business.

Karl Mayer : Warp knitting patterning from the cloud

In doing so, the world market leader is pursuing a well thought-out strategy: coordinated innovation activities are being used above all to rethink aftersales support and machine maintenance, and to develop coordinated offers in three areas. These are Care Solutions, Digital Solutions and Smart Machine.

Smart Machine comprises special functions that are backed by KARL MAYER's expertise and enable customers to maximize their productivity. In addition, a previously unattainable reproducibility of quality is possible.

A first solution for this is SwapKnit.

The new patterning concept manages completely without pattern discs, but still enables the high operating speeds typical of mechanical guide bar drives. The basis for this is the networking of the machine via the k.ey device with the KM.ON cloud.

Speed of operation and pattern change SwapKnit can be used for the production of new or tried-and-tested articles with pattern repeats of up to 36 stitch courses.

The required lapping data is acquired with just a few clicks in KARL MAYER's WEBSHOP SPARE PARTS and loaded directly from the KM.ON cloud.

Experience print in motion at FESPA Global Print Expo 2022

28 January 2022, Mumbai:

FESPA has launched the promotional campaign for its FESPA Global Print Expo 2022 and European Sign Expo 2022 events, scheduled to take place from 31 May – 3 June 2022 at Messe Berlin, Germany.

The campaign strapline ‘Experience Print in Motion’ highlights how, despite the challenges of the past two years, the speciality print market and the technology that supports it continue to evolve and progress.

“Speciality print businesses are back up and running and making future plans, and FESPA Global Print Expo 2022 will give them fresh momentum, supporting them with investment decisions and ideas development at a critical time in the sector’s sustained recovery”, says Michael Ryan, Head of FESPA Global Print Expo.

“After more than two years dominated by virtual alternatives, business decision-makers really need the energy and connections that only live events enable. The true value of a FESPA event for exhibitors and visitors is the wider experience: close-up views of technology and consumables; making human connections; networking with like-minded business people; being inspired and discovering the latest technologies and consumables.

In Amsterdam last autumn, we took the first steps to bringing colour back to speciality print. Now we all need to experience print in motion.”

Berlin has previously hosted highly successful FESPA exhibitions in 2007 and 2018, and the facilities and travel connections make the venue a popular destination amongst exhibitors and visitors.

Experience Print In Motion At FESPA Global Print Expo 2022 in Berlin — TEXINTEL

Occupying eight halls, the 2022 event will provide a platform for technological innovation in digital wide format, screen and textile printing. International manufacturers are lining up for the event, with over 250 suppliers including Brother, Canon, Durst, Fujifilm, HP, Kornit, Mimaki and M&R fully committed to the event to date.

Enhancing the visitor experience at FESPA Global Print Expo 2022, FESPA’s popular Printeriors interior décor feature will highlight the many opportunities in printed interior décor, again taking the form of an interactive visitor experience.

World Wrap Masters will also return, offering visitors the chance to see European vehicle wrappers compete for the title of World Wrap Master Europe 2022, followed by the show-down of the regional competition winners in the World Wrap Masters final.

Saitex opens its fabric mill, outside of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

03 February 2022, Mumbai:

Saitex has opened its new fabric mill, near its cut and sew factory outside of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Encompassing 100,000 sq m, the mill has created 630 jobs to date and plans to have 20 per cent of jobs dedicated to people with disabilities, an initiative first started in the cut & sew factory to create upcycled merchandise for the Rekut product line.

Building upon the recent opening of the “Factory of the Future” in Los Angeles, CA, and its renowned denim facility in Vietnam, the integration of the mill into the Saitex value stream grants unprecedented control and traceability of a garment’s life cycle.

Saitex’s “seed to shelf” approach to manufacturing starts with close partnerships with cotton farmers, utilizes eco-efficient spinning, weaving, and dyeing machinery, and incorporates a production creation center (PCC) with the capability to create and prototype garment samples on-site.

Through Saitex’s vertically integrated operations, brand partners are now offered one of the most sustainable and transparent “seed to shelf” processes, globally.

The Saitex Mill was constructed with a roof that reflects sunlight, installed natural ventilation, and used materials that adhere to LEED Gold Certified specifications.

The solar panel system consists of nearly 15,000 panels with 3-4 MW capacity, which equates to 2,000+ tons CO2 reduction yearly. Additional energy is derived from industrial sludge which is used to generate 40% of the facility’s steam power.

International Conference on Cellulose Fibres 2022, Hybrid Event - Cologne and Online, 2-3 February 2022

27 January 2022, Mumbai:

The nova-Institute invites you to the "International Conference on Cellulose Fibres 2022“ to get an overview of the current most important developments and innovations in the field of cellulose fibres.

All information on the conference programme, the accompanying exhibition, the awarding of the Innovation Award and more can be found here: www.cellulose-fibres.eu

Cellulosic fibres are the fastest-growing fibre group in the textile industry and also the largest investment sector in the global bioeconomy.

The challenge now is to achieve a balance between the ongoing capacity expansion and the growing demand, to avoid overcapacity while still meeting rising demand from the major brands.

These high growth rates are driven by an increasing demand for alternatives for fossil-based fibres and bottlenecks in cotton production, the microplastic issues, and bans on plastics in disposable applications. All three factors will continue to play an important role in the development of the sector in the future.

More than 170 participants from all over the world have already registered for the conference. 42 speakers from 12 countries will demonstrate the differences in regional development paths and their transferability to other areas.

Save water and celebrate with us: RECYCROMTM X Blue of a kind

31 January 2022, Mumbai:

Blue of a kind and Officina+39 introduce their collaboration in the name of sustainability through an exclusive event at the Blue of a kind shop in Milan. January 28th, 2022 – On Thursday 27 January, two Italian companies strongly committed to the transition to an ecological industry have presented the results of their collaboration at the Blue of a Kind shop in Via Vincenzo Capelli 3, Milan.

A union of intent that has led to a partnership initially born remotely, in the middle of the difficulties of recent years, finally set off through the live painting performance by Erik Varusio.

Walk For Water - Blue Revolution Club

The artist from Vicenza, well-known in the world of fashion and illustration, has customized a selection of Blue of a kind’s t-shirts using the sustainable Officina+39's RecycromTM dyestuff.

Revolution of existing Blue of a kind is meant to be not just a fashion company, rather a community built around an idea: to combine uncompromised style, contemporary fit and products with a valuable heritage, and a sustainable production process.

The products are made exclusively from vintage products handcrafted with the use of scrap fabrics and surplus, thanks to a network of suppliers all over Europe, which makes it possible to find the best vintage garments and stock, ultimately becoming the go-to raw material to lead a luxury revolution, chic yet sustainable.

Fashion and sustainable chemicals The mission of Blue of a kind perfectly matches with the technologies of Officina+39, a Biella-based company for which the word “waste” becomes synonymous with opportunity, a source for creating something new, encouraging circularity and reducing environmental impact.

From this vision comes to be RecycromTM, a revolutionary and sustainable dyestuffs range, patented, which employs recycled used clothing, fibrous material, and textile scraps: its full range of pigment powders is obtained through a cutting-edge upcycling process that involves textile fibers from used clothing and manufacturing waste for dyeing and printing on cotton, wool, nylon or any cellulosic and natural fiber or blend.
