Clothing retailers affiliated with the Japan Chain Stores Association (JCSA) saw a significant drop in sales income in February '22, both Y-o-Y and M-o-M.
According to JCSA's latest statistics, clothing retail revenues totaled 40,767.97 million yen (US $ 330 million) in February, down from 58,553.32 million yen (US $ 506.82 million) in January, a 30.40 percent monthly reduction and a 9.10 percent annual loss.
In February of this year, revenues from womenswear items totaled 10,433.24 million yen (US $ 84.46 million), down from 14,643.73 million yen (US $ 126.75 million) in January of this year.

On a monthly basis, income from women's clothes declined by 28.80%. In February of this year, sales of menswear items were 7,559 million yen, down from 11,555.91 million yen (US $ 100 million) in January and a 34.60 percent monthly decrease.
All other categories of clothes, including children's wear, grew by 3.50 percent year over year while declining by roughly 19 percent on a monthly basis.

In February of this year, revenues in this category totaled 22,775.74 million yen (US $ 184.37 million), down from 32,353.52 million yen (US $ 280 million) the previous month.
