OGTC conference, 2021: Big opportunity in the waiting for 'Indian Apparel Industry'

Okhla Garment and Textile Cluster (OGTC) last week organised its annual event 16th International Conference on Apparel & Home Textiles (ICAHT). The theme of this year was ‘Accelerating competitiveness in the post-Covid world’.
PMS Uppal, Founder, OGTC, and MD, PEE Empro Exports insisted to ensure maximum coordination and cooperation within companies as well as across the business associates to create an effective supply chain that the world would appreciate.
He also highlighted that though China’s share in global apparel is declining it is not coming to India as much as it was expected.
Prashant Agarwal, Wazir Advisors, Gurgaon highlighted that in retail sales, the US market is now 3 percent compared to 2019, while the EU is also catching up and so there are enormous opportunities.
He insisted on having machine learning and skill up-gradation not only for workers but also for mid-level and top-level employees and said that it needs to be aligned.
RC Kesar, DG, OGTC insisted that the apparel industry should ensure maximum use of the latest technology at all levels.
A lot of apparel exporters and professionals participated in the event. The day-long event had various sessions and workshops covering manufacturing, HR, finance, production planning, etc. Industry stalwarts and top faculty of prestigious institutes shared their views and experiences on various topics.
