Uttar Pradesh will provide financial assistance for opening khadi outlets. The subsidy will vary depending on the number of outlets being opened. Those opening 50 khadi oulets will get a Rs 2 crore subsidy. Those opening 100 outlets will get a subsidy of up to Rs 4 crores. The subsidy will increase to Rs 8 crores for 200 or more outlets and Rs 10 crores for opening 500 outlets.
While children of weavers will be given priority under the scheme, 75 per cent subsidy on registration will be given to those wanting to open new export houses for khadi products or wanting to open a new company.
Similarly, if youngsters want to open an online marketing company to sell such products, the state will provide 75 per cent subsidy on the registration of the marketing firm besides the initial expenditure on opening of such an entity. The grant would be up to Rs 50 lakh per company. Also, the state will provide 75 per cent subsidy (up to Rs 20 lakhs) for setting up infrastructure for the purpose.
The state is amending various policies to attract investments to promote khadi and investment in the sector. It has decided to provide these additional benefits along with offers of organising buyer-seller meets and fashion shows for khadi cloth.
