Christian Dior takes its Indian craftsmanship inspired cruise collection to Mumbai

Luxury fashion house Christian Dior is set to showcase its pre-collection of women's ready-to-wear for Autumn 2023 at the Gateway of India monument in Mumbai on March 30.
The move to India follows the label's previous cruise collections, which were held in Marrakech, Athens, and Seville, and is part of its efforts to showcase local know-how and collaborations with local artisans.
For the upcoming collection, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has drawn inspiration from traditional Indian craftsmanship and textiles, featuring strong colors, numerous prints, and intricate embroidery. The collection was presented in Paris last December and will be available in stores from late April.
Christian Dior has a longstanding relationship with India, with the Chanakya workshop and school in Mumbai being a regular source of embroidery for the label's collections and couture shows.
The move to Mumbai is also seen as an opportunity for the brand to strengthen ties with India's wealthy clientele.
