Levi's CEO & Pres highlights 4 trends shaping Indian retail landscape

11 April 2022, Mumbai:

Chip Bergh, President, and CEO, Levi Strauss & Co says, the four major trends currently shaping India’s retail landscape include sustainability, digitization and e-commerce, and supply chain resilience.

Bergh says sustainability has become a global phenomenon across generations. Younger consumers are particularly focused on the sustainability factor in apparel, he adds.

On its part, Levi’s reduces its environmental footprint by using fibers such as hemp and curbing water usage.

Berg also emphasizes the importance of technology in the apparel value chain.

Companies that fail to adapt to the digital world would simply die, he says. The nearshoring trend would gain popularity in the future with companies looking to produce goods closer to the markets in which they traded.

Diversity and inclusion would also gain traction in the future with diverse companies outperforming homogenous ones, Berg adds.
