NITRA & ITTA: To host Technical Textiles, National Conclave–Protech

Keeping in view the growing importance and demand of Technical Textiles worldwide and
boost up Govt. of India’s “Make in India” initiatives, India’s leading textile research association
NITRA, jointly with the Technical Textiles Manufacturers Association (ITTA), organized a National
Conclave on Technical Textiles, Protech, on November 16, 2022, at the IHC, New Delhi.
The event took place with the assistance of the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM)
formed by the Ministry of Textiles, GoI. About 450 delegates, associated with the Technical Textiles
industry participated in the conclave.
In his brief welcome address, Dr. Arindam Basu, Director General, NITRA, apprised about
NITRA’s state-of-the-art research facilities and thrust on continuous R&D in Protech.
Raj Kumar Jain, Chairman, NITRA, opined that the market for Technical Textiles is
expanding as the products are being used by an increasing number of users in various industries
such as protective wear.
Ms. Rachna Shah, Secretary, MoT, while delivering the inaugural address, highlighted that
Technical textiles is a sunrise industry with a robust growth rate of 10% annually.
Rajeev Saxena, Joint Secretary, MoT, made a presentation on the credentials of the Indian
technical textiles market, especially protection.
Roop Rashi, Textile Commissioner, in her special address mentioned that there is a need to
focus on outcome-oriented R&D in the sector.
Amit Agarwal, Chairman, of ITTA, highlighted that protective textiles are not only used in
fire scenarios, but have wider usage.
Anup Rakshit, Executive Director of ITTA, touched upon the various services that ITTA is
rendering to facilitate manufacturers of technical textiles products..
