Amit Aggarwal’s flagship store in Mumbai features futuristic installations and neo-traditional couture, textiles, and ready-to-wear. It is designed as an experiential store and has a futuristic grey interior and a stark industrial aesthetic.
The store is inspired by Mumbai’s sea, sand, and breeze and has been designed to feature no sharp edges to give a natural feel.
This experiential store is steeped in culture and history against a soundtrack of the ocean’s shifting moods.
The space is decorated with custom concrete furniture and minimalist grey mannequins display the brand’s selection of couture, textiles, and men’s and women’s ready-to-wear. Materials including metallic polymers and remnant metallic piping were chosen to pay homage to Mumbai’s signature aesthetics.
Aggarwal launched his eponymous brand in 2012 after working for designer Tarun Tahiliani. He is known for adding shape and structure to fabrics. His couture label’s mainstay identity lies in the fashion fantasy of architecture and structure.
With the brand focused on sustainable development, he has been also been successful in showcasing repurposed patola saris and vintage Benarasi weaves on the ramp. He has focused on engineering modern and innovative silhouettes inspired by nature’s forms and blended with India’s rich textile heritage. The design process has been inspired by the making of crystals.
