The new website features daily new collections from Banaras, Bengal, Chanderi, Gujarat, Kanchipuram, Lucknow, Madurai, Mysore, and Telangana, along with upcoming Shobitam events, and logs with original content furthering our mission to support handloom weavers with advocacy, and education.

Shobitam has launched its Utsav Festival collections. The collections include pure silk sarees drawing from rich Indian handloom, where the finest silk fabrics are embellished with intricate Zari work and embroideries. The collection is carefully curated in shades of green, orange, yellow, blue, pink, grey, green, red to reflect the vibrant festive season.

Vicunha to hold virtual fashion show

Vicunha plans to hold a virtual fashion show to launch a collection made with antiviral fabric.

The denim company , which is part of Texbrasil, (Brazilian Textile and Fashion Industry Internationalization Program) — the result of a partnership between Abit (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association) and Apex- Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) — invited 13 stylists to give life to the line.

The goal is to inspire other brands to use protective items in their creations. The guests who sign the conceptual looks include the following brands and designers: A La Garçonne, Another Place, Amapô, Caiu Toró, Diego Favaro, Daura, Igor Dadona, Isaac Silva, VIHE, Cartel 011 CZO, Jal Vieira, Uma and Das Hauss. The fashion show will happen on Youtube and will present pieces made with functional fabrics that protect against the virus responsible for COVID-19 and are part of the V. Tech Protective line.

Dollar Industries commissions solar power plant

Dollar Industries, one of the leading apparel brands in India, has commissioned a 4 MW solar power plant at its manufacturing facility in Tirupur. The plant is a part of Dollar’s ‘Green Mission’ initiative and has a capacity of generating 75 lakh power units annually. The company invested Rs 18 crore for the plant with expected payback period of 5 years.

Dollar’s objective for installing the solar plant is to not only reduce costs but also make the spinning unit at Tirupur sustainable and self-reliant. To produce 1 kg of cotton yarn, the cost of power is approximately Rs 27-28 which is expected to feed almost 50 per cent of the daily consumption at the spinning unit. Moreover, the solar plant will help in curbing the CO2 emissions by 9000 kg/per day with a sustainable environment.

The solar plant has been commissioned by Indway Power Energy who is the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) partner from Coimbatore. The power generated from the solar plant will be primarily used for our spinning unit. In case of excess power, it will be utilized to feed the dyeing unit, which is located at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Perundurai

Lifestyle expects demand recovery during festive season

Lifestyle, a part of Dubai-based retail conglomerate Landmark Group, expects apparel demand to recover during the ensuing festive season through both offline and online channels, says an Economic Times report. The company expects demand for apparels and fashion products to have touched 50-60 per cent of the same period last year.

Rishi Vasudev, CEO, Lifestyle and Home Centre says, there is pent up demand amongst consumers who are slowly going for discretionary spending to some extent. According to him, demand for home products like furniture and furnishings has touched 50-60 per cent of the pre-pandemic levels as stores were shut across the country in April and May due to the lockdown. As a brand promotion and marketing exercise, Lifestyle has roped in Bengali film actor Mimi Chakraborty as its ambassador for the Durga Puja festive season. The company currently has four stores -three in Kolkata and Howrah, and one in Siliguri-in West Bengal.

Nicobar expands homeware range

Fashion and lifestyle brand Nicobar has expanded its homeware product line and launched a range of whimsical and sustainable tableware.

Nicobar’s new homeware collection titled ‘Madagascar’ sees the label increase its focus on homeware with a range of new product launches. The pandemic has blurred the lines between clothing and interior design as many people are showing off their style online from their homes as opposed to at events. Many clothing brands have launched or expanded their homeware lines to enable their customers to enjoy the brand’s aesthetic from home.

Lifestyle opens new store in Guwahati

Lifestyle expanded its footprint in the North-East India by opening its first flagship store at Aurus Mall in Guwahati. The three-storeyed store is 31,000 sq. ft. wide and offers a wide variety of national and international brands.

The new store is magnificent with handmade designs and eye-catching VM displays. It is decorated with the longest hand-drawn manuscript painting of Assam along with other colourful elements depicting the variety of products that the brand offers. Customers can also experience a huge nail and thread art of Assam map right above the escalator.

Silver Lake to invest Rs 1,875 cr in Reliance Retail

New report suggests US fund Silver Lake will invest an additional Rs 1,875 in Reliance Retail Ventures. This second tranche of investment will take its total investment in the company to Rs 9,375 crore, raising its stake to 2.13 per cent in the company from earlier 1.75 per cent.

Silver Lake was the first overseas fund to announce Rs 7,500 crore investment for a receive Rs 3,675 crore in investment from General Atlantic. General Atlantic is the latest fund in a string of global investors including Silver Lake and KKR to invest in Reliance Retail in the last three weeks.

So far three global investment firms, Silver Lakee, General Atlantic and KKR have injected or announced to invest about Rs 18,600 crore in Reliance Retail valuing the company at Rs more than 4.20 lakh crore.

All the three funds had earlier this year invested in RIL other hottest property Jio Platforms. General Atlantic had earlier this year injected Rs 6,598 crore in the Reliance-owned telecom services provider.

RIL plans to raise about Rs 60,000-63,000 crore by selling a 15 per cent stake in Reliance Retail to a bevy of global investors and the Mumbai conglomerate is also planning to induct an overseas strategic investor into the company.

Arvind Lifestyle Brands, Gap terminate franchise agreement

Arvind Lifestyle Brands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arvind Fashions(AFL) and Gap Inc, have decided to mutually terminate their franchise business relationship in India.

Due to circumstances post the corona pandemic, both companies agreed that a mutual termination was in both Companies best interest.

As next steps, both companies will work out modalities regarding transition of the Gap business. Arvind Lifestyle Brands has appointed an Investment Bank to find a buyer for the Gap business.

The Gap business delivered revenues of Rs. 182 crore (4.7 per cent of AFL's consolidated turnover) with a PBT loss of Rs. 34 crore in FY2020.
