Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh will close the upcoming Mumbai edition of Lakme Fashion Week.
The eponymous designer will showcase a collection inspired by entrepreneur Simone Tata, who spearheaded fashion week sponsor Lakmé’s move into makeup. The designer, who is also the creative director of Satya Paul, will present his latest collection under his own name on the runway on October 16. Singh’s collection, and fashion week finale, will celebrate 70 years of the Lakmé business and the vision of Simone Tata.
Lakmé’s latest launch, the Lakme Absolute Skin Dew Serum Foundation, an amalgamation of skincare and makeup, has also been an inspiration for the collection. Singh’s aim has been to channel the beauty narrative catalyzed by Lakme in India and contemporaries in Indian classics in the same way, in a fashion context.
Rajesh Pratap Singh has earlier presented eco-collection experimenting with and influenced by different parts of India, starting from fiber. The fiber was spun through hand spinning and through a mechanized process. The yarn was sourced from five different craft areas of India.
Lakme Fashion Week will run from October 12 to 16, 2022, in Mumbai, and will include a number of design contests and sustainable fashion initiatives as well as runway shows.
