Meesho Plans 'Price Drop' Amid Etail Discount Row
08 December 2021, Mumbai:
E-COMMERCE platform Meesho has told sellers and suppliers in communication earlier this week that it will give a "price drop" on its own in a sale event on Thursday.
Meesho's communication to sellers comes at a time when foreign-owned larger rivals such as Amazon India and Walmart's Flipkart are under scrutiny for discounts offered on their platforms.
Meesho told sellers that it will do a minimum 2% price drop from its end during the sale. "Since Meesho is contributing to the price drop, we expect a similar price drop from your (sellers') end too. Let's together bring the best price for our customers," the note reviewed by ET, added.
Meesho, which turned a unicorn earlier this year with an over $1 billion valuation, expects a three-and-a-half-time growth in sales in one day of the event through this initiative, as per its communication.
