In Q1 FY22 India's leading apparel manufacturer Page Industries posted a profit of Rs 10.9 crore as against Rs 39.5 loss posted in Q1 FY21. The company’s revenues increased by 76.1 per cent revenue to Rs 501.5 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2021, against Rs 284.8 crore in same period last year.

Its EBITDA grew to Rs 342 crore against a loss of 347 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Despite half of the quarter being under lockdown for most cities and states, the company added 1,465 MBOs and 9 EBOs during these three months.Gross profit expanded to Rs 166.7 crore while profit after tax rose to Rs 10.9 crore.

The company is investing in its warehousing, technology and logistics support to cater to this increasing demand. During the quarter, it also saw great demand and acceptance for its kids wear business and hopes to maintain the growth momentum, says Sundar Genomal, Managing Director.

Multi-brand luxury Indian womenswear boutique Amethyst has launched a shopping event to showcase the new collection of ethnic wear brand Shades of India in Chennai.

From August 20 to 30, Amethyst will host the Annual Sale Shopping Fair for Shades of India. The pop-up shop will feature a range of kurtas, sarees, dupattas, blouses, and trousers as well as accessories in Shades of India’s signature cotton textiles.

Shades’ of India’s latest womenswear collection has a relaxed aesthetic with loose fit garments and breezy textiles. Featuring tactile appliqué details, the collection plays with texture to add a whimsical touch to its more paired down looks.

In its first quarter ended June 30, 2021, Tata group firm Titan Company’s total income increased to Rs 3,519 crore from Rs 2,020 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. The company posted a consolidated profit of Rs 18 crore against a net loss of Rs 297 crore posted in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal.

Income from jewelry division increased to Rs 2,467 crore from Rs 1,182 crore in the same period last year. The watches and wearables business recorded an income of Rs 292 crore as against Rs 75 crore earlier. Income from the eyewear business stood at Rs 67 crore, compared to Rs 30 crore in the same period last year.

The other segments of the company comprising Indian dress wear and accessories recorded an income of Rs 14 crore as against Rs 4 crore earlier. Set up in 1984, The Titan Company is an Indian luxury products company that mainly manufactures fashion accessories such as watches, jewellery and eyewear. It is a part of the Tata Group and started as a joint venture with TIDCO.

23rd August 2021, Mumbai:

After selling its value-fashion retail chain Unlimited to retailer V-Mart, Arvind Lifestyle Brands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arvind Fashions, plans to focus on growing ‘high conviction’ brands—US Polo Association, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Arrow, Flying Machine and Sephora. As per Shailesh Chaturvedi, Chief Operating Officer, the company will first focus on its digitization strategy that includes partnerships with new portals and connecting with consumers through multiple channels.

In the last quarter, the company added 100 more stores to its omni network while its digital only linkages in physical stores reached mid teen number. Synonymous with pretty women in Punjabi, homegrown ethnic wear brand BIBA was launched in 1988. In the last 33 years, the brand has grown from a ‘home grown’ product into a national ‘brand’ capitalizing on the retail boom in the country. Today, it is known as the largest Indian wear retail chain in the country.

In 2015, BIBA launched a fashion value brand called Rangriti to enhance its presence at lower price points and cater to a large consumer segment that purchases from the unorganized Tier II and III markets. Siddharth Bindra, Managing Director, expounds on the brand’s products, markets and future plans.

What are your new collections for upcoming season?

Our upcoming collection introduces a wide range of styles in categories ranging from work wear to fusion to everyday wear and occasion wear. We recently revamped our brand identity to include trendy and fashionable outfits alongwith ethnicwear. Our new collection offers work from home range, BIBA chic range, accessories, fusion sets, athleisure, loungewear, designer wear, etc.

We have been a leader in ethnic suits and kurtas category for the last few years. The designs and prices offered in this range are fantastic. We have also launched a new work from home/work wear and dresses collection. Our Biba Girls range, targeting the 2-15 years age group, continues to be in high demand. We have also added categories like footwear, jewellery, wallets/bags, nightwear to our portfolio, and are working on some exciting launches.

Who is your target audience?

Our target audience includes urban middle class women spanning all ages and professions including homemakers, working women and college students, etc. We also cater to girls in the age group of 2-13 years in our kids collection. Our products are priced in the mid-segment and range from Rs 999-Rs 25,000.

What is your retail spread?

The combined retail network for Biba and Rangriti spans 400 EBOs pan India. Among these, 140 EBOs are located in North India, 98 in South India, 77 in East India and 85 in West India. We are also available in over 600 large format stores such as Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Pantaloons, Reliance and Central and on major online platforms like Myntra and Amazon. Our new brand Rangriti has 110 exclusive stores in India and we plan to add another 150 in the next two years. We have an aggressive expansion strategy in place for both Biba and Rangriti.

What are your initiatives and achievements over the years?

BIBA pioneered Bollywood merchandising in India with its first integration in ‘Na Tum Janno Na Hum,’ followed by other exclusive partnerships with blockbusters movies such as: Devdas, Baghban, Hulchul, and Bhoothnath. We have also received numerous awards from organizations like Shoppers Stop, Myntra, Images Group for being the ‘Most Admired Women’s Indian wear Brand’. Our founder & chairperson Meena Bindra was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by CMAI and Franchise India for her contribution to the apparel industry. I was felicitated with ‘The Tycoons of Tomorrow’ by Forbes in 2018.
