Fashion and lifestyle brand Superdry has launched its new performance-wear category, Superdry Sport, in the Indian market.
This move is a strategic effort to capture the country's rapidly expanding demand for technical activewear. The products are specifically tailored for activities like running, functional training, and general recreational fitness. The collection features specialized activewear, which includes items like running tights, moisture-wicking tops, training shorts, and other athleisure essentials.
The Superdry Sport range will be retailed through Superdry's extensive existing network, which is operated by Reliance Brands (RBL). RBL holds a 76 per cent stake in the brand's Intellectual Property (IP) for the India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh territories, following a joint venture agreement signed in October 2023.
Superdry currently has a strong presence in India with over 200 points of sale across 50 cities, supplemented by a nationwide e-commerce channel. This existing infrastructure provides a robust platform for the new performance line.
The company expects the Superdry Sport range to significantly strengthen its position in India's fast-growing premium activewear segment, which is being driven by rising health consciousness and a growing gym culture.
The introduction of Superdry Sport is positioned to blend high-level functionality with Superdry's signature style, catering to the demand for apparel that bridges fitness and fashion.
