Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) has inaugurated a 14,000-sq-ft flagship showroom on Anna Salai, Chennai, marking a significant transition toward high-end experiential retail. The multi-level destination utilizes a category-led zoning strategy: the ground floor focuses on gold and Jadau, while the first floor is dedicated to diamonds and platinum. A standout development is the introduction of ‘Atelier VBJ’ on the second floor - a private, immersive format featuring exclusive lounges and personalized services. This move aligns with a broader shift in the Indian jewelry market, valued at approximately $73 billion in 2025, where consumers increasingly prioritize curated, design-led environments over traditional transactional spaces.

Revenue diversification and global expansion

The brand has outlined a robust roadmap to expand its annual revenue from Rs 2,700 crore in FY2026 to Rs 5,000 crore within the next 18 months. To support this growth, VBJ is deploying a Rs 500 crore internal investment for domestic and international expansion. Domestically, the retailer is targeting high-potential catchments in Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, and Hyderabad. Internationally, VBJ is strengthening its presence in the United States, with a new store planned for Milpitas, California, to serve the diaspora market. Managing Partner Amarendran Vummidi noted that while gold currently constitutes 65 per cent of the business mix, the brand expects diamond segments to grow by 40 per cent–45 per cent, reflecting evolving lifestyle preferences and the rise of ‘smart luxury.’
