26 November 2021, Mumbai:
Designer and entrepreneur Jayanti Reddy is celebrating a decade in fashion for her eponymous brand. Now she plans to expand internationally and step into menswear.
Reddy also recently collaborated with wedding designer Devika Narain to launch a series of six installations in her new store which celebrate Reddy’s diverse archive of bridal wear.
The installations feature Reddy’s take on traditional Nizami and Benarasi weaves as well as a feature for her team of artisans and ample examples of her signature purple hue. Reddy is also stepping into education through her collaboration with the online education platform The Designer’s Class.
For her first-ever class in design, Reddy will teach on building a sustainable brand, trade secrets, and the ins and outs of the industry.
The Jayanti Reddy label which opened in 2012 epitomizes an elegant and relatively understated sense of style with a strong emphasis on naturally dyed, handwoven textiles that are embellished with intricate hand embroidery. It infuses traditional clothing with a unique sense of style and understated elegance.
The brand’s formal/festive collections are characterized by a sense of craftsmanship, style and creativity.
The designer has laid strong emphasis on the use of hand-woven, naturally dyed Indian textiles and heritage weaves like Benarasi and chanderi silk, and organza, in her women’s wear collections.
