SIMA & CITI to impress upon Tamil Nadu CM, MK Stalin seeking to ramp up cotton production

A sincere effort of 'The Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) Chairman', Ravi Sam and Confederation of Indian Textil Industry (CITI) Chairman, T Rajkumar, SIMA Secretary-General, Dr. K Selvaraju by meeting & trying to impress upon Hon'ble Chief Minister. Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin earlier this week.
During the process, they submitted a very structured memorandum sharing industry vision of seeking to augment cotton production in near future in Tamil Nadu against existing data point of 5 lakh bales up to 30 lakh bales by submitting a roadmap of formulating the 'Cotton Cultivation Mission' under the aegis of Hon'ble TN Government's Department of Textiles and in engagement with key stakeholders such as SIMA CD&RA & so and so forth.
As per the association's spokespersons, TN CM reportedly gave a patient hearing and the appeal was well received. In furtherance to this, the delegation also went on to meet the Minister for Industries, Thangam Thennarasu, Principal Secretary to spare no stone unturned.
The timing of this initiative is apt when," Cotton prices in India soar as demand rises & stock depletes".
