Narrowing losses drive retail portfolio expansion for Nykaa Fashion

Operator of omnichannel retailer Nykaa, FSN E-Commerce Ventures reported a 207 per ecnt year-on-year rise in quarterly net profit to Rs 101 crore. The company’s consolidated revenue grew by 28 per cent to Rs 3,006 crore, driven by momentum in core beauty segments and improving profitability across apparel retail. Operating EBITDA increased by 65 per cent to Rs 263 crore, with margins expanding nearly 200 basis points as fulfillment overheads declined across physical and digital storefronts.

Fashion segment optimization and strategic inorganic expansion

Nykaa Fashion reduced operational drag through improved full-price sales, tighter inventory turns, and higher average order values across premium labels. Retail footprint expansion continued, bringing total physical outlets past 200 doors to capture Tier-II and Tier-III discretionary demand. To deepen market share, management approved acquiring an 82 per cent stake in clean beauty and apparel label Simply Nam.

The company’s focus on disciplined marketing spend and premium brand acquisitions is stabilizing apparel unit economics, notes Falguni Nayar, Executive Chairperson. Integrated logistics and strategic store placement remain crucial to scaling fashion profitability, she adds.

Industry dynamics and retail outlook

E-commerce fashion platforms face heightened competition from quick-commerce networks and aggressive discounting by global fast-fashion incumbents. Analyst house Jefferies retained a favorable long-term rating, citing Nykaa’s omnichannel integration as a structural advantage over purely online competitors.

Founded in 2012, Nykaa is an Indian omnichannel lifestyle platform specializing in beauty, personal care, and fashion apparel. Operating e-commerce applications and physical retail stores, the company plans store network expansion into Tier-II markets while scaling proprietary apparel brands to achieve consistent EBITDA profitability.
