Two Indian textile companies were found to be evading GST in the millions of dollars
13 December 2021, Mumbai:
Two enterprises in Indore, Madhya Pradesh's largest clothing manufacturing center, are accused of GST 'fraud.' According to sources, while conducting search operations at GH Garments and Sun Rise Garments, Central Goods and Service Tax sleuths discovered GST evasion worth crores of rupees.
Both are Indore's major companies. Officials are claimed to be still calculating the precise amount of evasion, but the move has sent shockwaves not just in Indore, but also in other major clothing centers such as Delhi, Bellary, and Ludhiana.
The search was done at GH Garments and Sunrise Garments, both in Tilak Path. The two enterprises account for the majority of the city's readymade clothes commerce.
The GH Group has around 16 branch offices throughout the country. According to an official, both organizations have seized a considerable amount of tax evasion materials, including electronic proof. It's worth noting that Ludhiana's top garment maker was recently charged with GST fraud totaling Rs. 13.48 crore.
