DuPont Biomaterials and Welspun India have teamed up

05 Octtober 2021, Mumbai:

Welspun India, India's top home textiles firm, has collaborated with DuPont Biomaterials to create a bio-based home textile collection, which includes bath towels and bedsheets.

According to a release, the partnership combines cotton and DuPont's Sorona brand of fibres, which are created from 37% renewable plant-based components and provide a high-performing, sustainably sourced material choice.

Sorona polymer-based fibers are now utilized in a variety of clothing applications, including athleisure and sportswear, insulation, swimming, outerwear, suiting, and fake fur, among others.

For a long time, Sorona fibers have been utilized in the fashion garment industry. Sorona polymer, which is partially plant-based, provides the required performance while remaining environmentally friendly.

The polymer provides technical and performance benefits such as incredible softness, stretch and recovery, and inherent stain resistance without the need for topical treatments.

“Our cooperation with the DuPont Biomaterials team is a key step towards our goal to provide value-added solutions to meet tomorrow's issues through a sustainable approach without sacrificing on performance and value,” said Dipali Goenka, CEO and Joint MD of Welspun India.

“By keeping close to our clients, we realized that the practical benefits of Sorona fibers could be used in the home textile segment,” she continued.

Our innovation team created towels and bedsheets as a first step, combining a variety of essential capabilities, and we plan to develop more goods and features in the future.”

“By combining the innovation and performance qualities given by our Sorona fiber with their knowledge in this industry, we are delivering on our promise to develop more sustainable products,” said DuPont Biomaterials Global Business Director Michael Saltzberg.
