Delhi Fashion Club celebrates women empowerment with Delhi Fashion Week

In partnership with VOY Media & Events, Delhi Fashion Club successfully hosted the recent Delhi Fashion Week (DFW) at the Indian capital’s YMCA Tourist Hotel on November 28. The event was inspired by the theme ‘Naari Shakti: Weaving Viksit Bharat’ (Women's Power: Weaving Developed India), highlighting cultural heritage, handloom textiles, sustainable innovation, and women's empowerment.
The showcase received support from the Government of Meghalaya’s Tourism department and featured collaboration with the NIFT Foundation for Design Innovation (under the Ministry of Textiles) and the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry).

The event brought together designers, artisans, weavers, and influencers, with Chief Guest Sabrella Marak, Additional Resident Commissioner at Meghalaya House. Following the opening ceremony, the inaugural Delhi Fashion Summit – Season 1 was launched as a knowledge-sharing platform dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion and boosting handloom entrepreneurship, especially among women and rural and tribal weavers.
The runway featured several standout collections including the FDDI Naari Shakti Collection championed eco-conscious design and inclusivity, the Viksit Bharat Sutra Show highlighted Khadi and handloom textiles and the International Reinvent Northeast Showcase featuring traditional Bodoland Handloom weaves.
The evening also included couture gowns by Ashfaque Ahmad and a grand finale by the NIFT Foundation for Design Innovation – Bhasha Bharat, which showcased Bhagalpur silk sarees worn by showstopper Archana Niranjan, Mrs. Universe Oceania 2025.
A significant milestone for the organizers was the announcement of the secured trademark registration for Delhi Fashion Week after 10 years of planning. The second season of DFW is already slated for March 2026.
